Ready for PayPal Donations!

Like we said in our previous news blog, Pawsitively Famous is now going to be supporting HSOET, TAILS, our other new group, Ran's Animal Care Express (or RACE for short).

Well, we're now set up on PayPal and are ready to start building up our funds!! Our tax exempt status for donations we take in will be retro-active once the IRS approves our NFP paperwork, so you can already start writing off any donations you make to Pawsitively Famous after January 1st on your 2009 taxes.

Of course, if you're interested in mailing in a check or money order, our mailing address is:

Pawsitively Famous, Inc.
PO Box 389
Columbia, MO 65205-0389

Thanks so much for all the support everybody!

Let's get it going!

Changes for the New Year!

Hey everyone,

It's a new year coming up and we have a ton of changes to tell you guys about.

For starters, Pawsitively Famous is now officially Pawsitively Famous, Inc. We've incorporated ourselves, and set up our own bank account and post office box so that people can now make contributions directly to us...... and even better than that, we're currently in the process of working with the IRS to make ourselves into an official Not For Profit Organization so that your contributions will also be tax deductible.

Along with that stuff there's several other changes in the works with the way that Paws is going to be structured going forward. The main concept is still going to be the same as far as doing races and selling merchandise to raise money for animal organizations, but now that we're basically about to become our own charity, we're going to be making a few changes to the way we handle the money that we take in, and once we get our Not For Profit status taken care of, we're also going to be aligning ourselves closely with Ran's official organization, Pawsabilities. Here's how it's going to work - instead of all of the donations going directly to the HSOET like we did in the past, we're going to be dividing them up between the HSOET, TAILS, our other new group, Ran's Animal Care Express (or RACE for short), and possibly some other animal shelter organizations in the future.

RACE is the official name for the group of people who volunteer to do animal rescues/transports through the fan club, which we've kind of unofficially been coordinating up to this point, but we're going to be doing it officially now, and the way this is going to work going forward is that anyone who volunteers to drive, provide temporary housing for an animal, or help out with a rescue in any other way will now have the option of being reimbursed for their time and mileage through us (it's not gonna be a HUGE amount but it should help cover some of your expenses, and we're going to be working on some other perks as well over the next several months that we'll also be telling you about as we get them set up). As far as aligning ourselves with Pawsabilities goes, the way that's going to work is that once our Not For Profit status is official, Ran's organization is going to be making contributions to us as well to help with the rescues and to help RACE grow as an organization, so make sure you keep doing the search with Miranda stuff and supporting Pawsabilities because a portion of the money that they take in will be going towards helping with the adoptions that get done through the fan club. Hopefully we can continue to be just as successful with those in the future as we have been so far. We're also going to be putting online volunteer forms for anyone interested in helping to drive or house animals and adoption forms for anyone who might be interested in adopting one on our website soon too (hopefully very soon - they're almost done but we've just been busy setting everything else up that we haven't gotten a chance to finish them yet but they're coming).

One other thing to add - even though we're not officially a not for profit organization yet, the tax exempt status for donations we take in will be retro-active once the IRS approves the paperwork, so you can already start writing off any donations you make after January 1st on your 2009 taxes (anything you send in between now and the end of this year may or may not be tax deductible depending on the timing of the paperwork getting filed, etc so if you want to send something in within the next two weeks and guarantee a deduction on your 2008 taxes, make your check out directly to the HSOET or TAILS and then starting in 2009 you can make it out to Pawsitively Famous).

So like I said earlier, if you're interested in making a contribution, our new mailing address is:

Pawsitively Famous, Inc.
PO Box 389
Columbia, MO 65205-0389

We also still have some beer bottle koozies available for $4 each, so if you're interested in ordering any, let us know.

Thanks!

Calling for Gifts/Donations for Ran's Birthday!!

Hey guys, Ran's birthday is just around the corner!!!

As she's said in the past, the best present you can give her is to make a donation to the Humane Society of East Texas (HSOET)!!

Here are some ways to help:

* Make out a check or money order, payable to the Humane Society of East Texas! You can send them to us (contact us at webmaster@pawsitivelyfamous.com for a mailing address) and we will forward them to the HSOET in a group specifically for Ran's birthday collection.

* Make credit card/PayPal donations here. This is a direct link to the HSOET's “Donation Form” on their website. After you have completed the transaction, please forward the e-mail receipt that you will receive from PayPal to us (at webmaster@pawsitivelyfamous.com ) so we can add you to our Contributors page and make you a banner!

* If you want something tangible from your donation, you can show your support by purchasing some Paws bottle koozies; all proceeds go to the HSOET!

Cause for the Paws Success

We are thrilled to annouce that Miranda's first charity event, Cause For The Paws, brought in $113,000.00 profit for the Humane Society of East Texas. Beverly Lambert and Gayle Helms, surrounded by 8 dogs at the shelter, wept with joy as the final tally was tabulated. Miranda had the following comments for her official press release regarding the event and the contribution:

“I would like to thank Gayle Helms at the Humane Society of East Texas for inviting me to be a part of the first charity event for the shelter. Cause for the Paws was a huge success for so many reasons! The committee that put it together was amazing and KE Cellars and the food vendors did an awesome job. The Villa di Felicita is the most beautiful place ever, period. The volunteers were organized and made everything look easy and flow smoothly. Also those who donated for the auctions were more than generous, including my friends in the entertainment community. A special thanks to my friends, Blake Shelton, Adam Hood and Kacey Musgraves for giving of their time and adding great music. God topped it off with a beautiful day! The event took on a life of it's own and Delilah and I felt so honored to be a part of it. A heartfelt thank you goes out to those who bought tickets, the sponsors and everyone who contributed in any way to help the abused and abandoned animals of East Texas.”

HSOET Supply Drive

Cause for The Paws is coming up in about a weeks and the Pawsitively Famous team is going to be doing a supply drive for the HSOET while we're in Lindale!

Here's how it works!

The HSOET is always looking for donations of:

*Dog Food
*Cat Food
*Cat Litter
*Paper Towels
*Bath Towels
*Bleach
*Laundry Soap
*Liquid Dish Soap

So most of those things won't cost more than a couple bucks and if everyone that's planning on going to be in Lindale that weekend can pick one item from that list and bring it, that would be a major help for the shelter. We're planning on going to the HSOET on Sunday morning to drop everything off, and we're also going to be making a shopping trip on the way there to pick up some additional supplies in case anyone wants to contribute but doesn't want to have to worry about trying to fit a bottle of bleach or a bag of dog food into their luggage. You guys are all more than welcome to join us on Sunday if you'd like too (or if you'd rather sleep in, that's fine - we'll just attach your name to whatever item it was that you donated so that they'll know who it was from).

If you're NOT going to be in Lindale and you still want to help out, you can also send a check or make a PayPal donation for $5 and let us know which item on the list you want us to buy (send an email to Tom at tom@runningforacause.com for more info) and we'll pick it up on our way to the shelter on Sunday morning (and any additional money that's left over from our shopping trip will go directly to the HSOET as a cash donation).

With so many people going to Lindale, hopefully we'll get a pretty big turnout for this. Feel free to let Tom, Jess, Ronie, or Karen know if you have any questions!

2008 Success!

For just 6 months in 2007 (Paws didn't start until July), we all raised over $2,040 for the HSOET! Paws says “WE ALL” because it wasn't just us. WE ALL donated in support of those little pound puppies.

Hopefully we'll be able to double that and give them even more this year; with everybody's help, we can do it!!

First Annual Valentine's Donation Drive

Pawsitively Famous hosted our First Annual Valentine's Donation Drive February 1-23. Our contributors showed their loved ones (pet or person) that “Love Is Looking For You” by making donation in his or her name. For each $5, the donor got 1 entry into raffles for autographed Miranda goods! Congrats to the winners: Carey Hill, Julia Cayton, Craig Troutman, and Ted Effron. And thanks for everyone's support; a total of $240 was raised to kick off 2008!
